Me & The Florescent Lights

It feels so good to have blogging back in my routine!Β I am a large fan of routine and structure. Despite often saying “oh I can’t wait for the weekend”, I do enjoy a schedule. πŸ™‚ I woke up nice and early this morning to walk my doggies. Isn’t so awesome that it is light so much earlier now?? I personally love it! It makes it so much easier to get up in the morning! I have so much going on in my life lately and I am so grateful for even the smallest rays of light (no pun intended haha). See I can still be funny even while under mountains of stress!!

I often have a few things to do asap as soon as I get to work so this morning I felt like I didn’t have enough time to even make some oatmeal quickly so I picked up a cinnamon raisin bagel at Tim Horton’s when I got my coffee. I enjoy munching on the bagel as is! Oh as I was walking from Tim Horton’s to work I realized they messed up my coffee. I asked for a black- it was definitely not black. I had to run out and get another one asap! Coffee was needed because even though getting up early was easy, I got tired on the train ride in.

My morning was so busy and I didn’t really think of lunchΒ  until about 12:30pm. While the dogs were being fed and watered before I left this morning, I threw together a spinach wrap for lunch. I added some horseradish dijon mustard- so good!, turkey breast, mixed greens, yellow tomatoesΒ and sweet red peppers.

I also had a few bites of this bad boy:

an apple a day

an apple a day

The apple was way too mushy for my liking. It was too ripe and I couldn’t finish it. Too bad!

I didn’t feel much physical pain from my run today (my hamstrings were a little tight) but I felt feverish for most of the day and including now. I feel kind of hot and cold at the same time. I have made sure I drank enough water and ate enough. I think it may be just due to lack of sleep and stress. I am hoping a great sleep tonight will get rid of the pain.

I needed another cup of java around 2:30pm so I went to Tim Horton’s and luckily they got the order right this time :-p I teamed the coffee with Melissa’s Bar of Love I You Bar. As always- so good!

I spent a lot of time at work today- hence the title. Ahhh the lighting. I got a mad craving for chocolate so I gave in and had a few squares of Hersey’s Milk Chocolate– so creamy, so good! Oh yum!!

Since I was stranded at work, I had to eat dinner there too. I was in no mood for the ThaiΒ  the boys were ordering so I was happy when one of them branched out and said he was going to Subway! A much healthier option! I had a 6inch roast beef on whole wheat with veggies. I also had a bag of Baked Lays BBQ. It actually helped with my tummy ache so perhaps it was partly due to hunger? I don’t know. Body needs rest! πŸ™‚

As you probably guessed, there was no way I was making a trip to the gym after running the half yesterday. Normally I would probably go do something but I was not feeling hotΒ when 8pm came around so I decided to come home instead. A day off never hurt anyone!

As I was typing this I snacked on some Kashi Whole Grain Crackers with peanut butter and jam on some and cheese on others. I know, I know- Reduction in Nighttime Snack Challenge. HOWEVER- I did say IF I am legitimately hungry, a healthy snack is 100%Β  necessary. I guess I made a good choice- right? πŸ™‚ I love Kashi Whole Grain Crackers!

  1. That spinach wrap looks so colorful and delicious! Would you believe I don’t have a favorite quote? It’s true πŸ™‚

  2. No favourite quote for me! I usually just hear one or read one and think “hmm, I like that” and forget it right away.
Love those Tim’s bagels! I used to love the blueberry ones the most.

  3. I love cinnamon raisin bagels! Now you have got me wanting to buy some! Kashi crackers too, because for soem reason those cheese and crackers look really good right now. I swear, I’m not hungry either! πŸ™‚

    My fave quote:
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond human measure, It is our Light, not out darkness that frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?”

  4. I agree – I strive on routine. But I sometimes worry being so rigid isn’t always a good thing. Anyway, I guess its all about striking a balance hey?

Your wrap looks amazingly good… mmm! And I gave in to chocolate today too – you are not along.

I think you are 110% justified for skipping the gym tonight – run a half marathon burns soooo much energy. Definately make sure you are eating enough to compensate. It might be why you’ve been feeling a little off.

I don’t really have a favourite quote – but here are a couple I like:

“Your day goes the way the corners of your mouth turn.” – Anonymous

    and

“Whoever said money can’t buy happiness simply didn’t know where to go shopping”

The second one is a bit cheeky hey?

    Have a lovely night dear!

  5. Um don’t get me started on Tim Hortons. They ALWAYS mess up my order, it’s crazy. It’s not even complicated! I guess I just have bad luck πŸ™‚

My favorite quote is this: “Just when the caterpillar thought the world had come to an end, it turned into a butterfly”. It’s actually been helpful to think about this in the past year because of all the rejection I’ve had (job-related).

@ Ashley (and everyone): yesterday I was reading an itnerview with Johnny Depp, and he said: “Money may not be able to buy you happiness, but it can buy you a yacht big enough to sail up to it” (Talking about his island). Oh yeah, I’m jealous. lol!

  6. Kashi crackers are soooo good. I purposely don’t buy them because they’d disappear too quickly!!

My favourite quote is “Ad astra per alia porci.” One reason I like it is because it’s Latin, which I studied in school. It means “To the stars on the wings of th pig.” It was John Steinbeck’s motto that and printed on the first page of many of his books. He did this because a teacher once told him he’d only be a successful writer when “pigs flew.” So it was kind of a “screw you” to the teacher in all of his published books πŸ™‚ Reminds me that anything is possible!

Another good one is from the quote master, Winston Churchill. “Success is going from failure to failure without the loss of enthusiasm.” I think this one is so true, especially when it comes to work. I remind myself of it whenever I screw up πŸ˜›

  7. LOVE tim hortons bagels – so doughy! yumyum

I have SO many favorie quotes, I couldn’t even begin to list them all. so many good ones out there!

  8. Hello!

Cinnamon raisin bagels are the BEST. They were always my childhood favorite. Oh I hate when people mess up my orders! You’d think black coffee would be really easy NOT to mess up, you know?

I definitely get sick-like symptoms when I’m overly sleep deprived, although I am sleep deprived so often I think my body is adapting to it.. hopefully you get a good night of rest!

Um, I totally commend you on skipping the gym! Your body got worn down running the half (CONGRATULATIONS by the way) and it’s busily trying to repair itself even stronger. Good for you for taking a night off and letting your body heal, AND for eating a healthy snack to give it energy to do so! I love night-time snacks. πŸ™‚

    Take care!

    Much love,
    Rachel

  9. blah i hate when places mix up my coffee order.. how hard is it to get *black* right? ah well, at least you enjoyed a delish bagel πŸ™‚

my favorite snack is laughing cow and pretzels.. m’mm salty salty goodness, or anything with PB .. of course.

  10. Hey!

I just took a break from studying and saw your comment (good timing). I don’t think I have an about me section :S Unless you count that little itty bit on the sidebar lol πŸ™‚

I just finished law school at OttawaU, I did the national program (3 years of civil law and 1 year of common law) and I’m not studying for the Ontario Bar (yuck). Congrats on doing law school that’s so great!! I think you’ll love it, it’s definitely a huge learning experience πŸ™‚ What university are you going to be studying at? I have a friend who’ll be starting at Queens!

  11. You sound like you love coffee as much as I do! And it must be exactly as I like it! Glad you got through work. Your lunch wrap looks fabulous. Hope your Tuesday is treating you well.

  12. I definitely agree that nighttime snacking is A-OK if you’re really hungry. Ignoring real hunger is a terrible idea. Cinnamon raisin bagels = the love of my life, forget the boyfriend!!

I hope you feel well soon!

  13. I just love how the days are longer and brighter! Another one of the many advantages of summer! Gotta love it! πŸ™‚

YUMMM!! Those Kashi crackers look so good. I agree that it’s better to have a satisfying, healthy snack in the evening than to go to bed hungry and uncomfortable.

  14. Cinnamon raisin bagels rock! Now you’ve got me craving one too. πŸ˜‰
